So many companies are offering different types of dog food, but very few of them uphold a standard. A standard that Open Farm took the risk to research and develop so that every pet owner can give their pets healthy food that’s humane and sustainable. Here, we’ll look at Open Farm freeze-dried food and see exactly how high their standards are, and if they’re worth doing business with.
The company is a family-owned business started by Jaqueline Prehogan and Isaac Langleben. It all began when Jacqueline rescued her first dog, Bella. As an animal lover, she made it her mission to find natural, nutritious food for Bella to help her grow happy, healthy, and strong.
Unfortunately, most of the dog food brands available weren’t against Jacqueline’s personal values of animal welfare, sustainably, and transparency standards. So alongside
with her husband Isaac and brother-in-law Derek, they started to develop pet food that met their standards.
And with that vision, Open Farm was born.
Open Farm offers the following freeze-dried raw dog food:
The website has feeding guidelines, so you won’t have to guess how much to feed your dog. You don’t have to worry about whether you are under or overfeeding your dog during each meal. There’s also a transition guide to help your dog get used to Open Farm food.
They also have dry and wet food, gently cooked meals, and treats in case your dog’s a picky eater and isn’t happy with freeze-dried food.
When they say over-the-top tracing, they mean it. Where else can you find a company that lets you trace where the ingredients come from? When they say they’re serious about their commitment to transparency, they mean it.
Their sustainability standards are also top-notch. Open Farm only use high-quality ingredients that are GMO-free. All ingredients are ethically sourced and 100% certified humane. All Open Farm partner farms are regularly audited to verify and ensure that they maintain strict humane standards. No animals are kept in cages.
There’s also a quiz that you can take to help you with your dog’s diet. They’ll ask you about your dog’s breed, age, weight, level of activity, and diet. From there, Open Farm will offer suggestions on how your dog will benefit most from their products. This is extremely helpful if you’re not sure on what to feed your dog.
There’s also one thing to remember, though. If your dog requires a specific diet or prescription food because of a health condition, Open Farm freeze dried food may not be suitable. The company can help with suggestions to work around allergies, but nothing specific for prescription diets. It’s best to consult your vet first if Open Farm is good for your pet.
The freeze-dried food costs $9.99 (3.5 OZ), $34.99 (13.50 OZ), and $49.99 (22 O.Z.)
These are pricey for dog food, but we expected no less. When you use high-quality, human-grade ingredients, paying more is only fitting. There are some cheaper alternatives that aren’t freeze-dried, but they can still be pricey.
Subscribe to their auto-ship service, and you’ll get 5% off. This service sends you dog food on a regular basis
U.S. orders over $50 ordered on the website qualify for free shipping to most of the continental U.S. If your order falls short of $50, you’ll get a flat rate shipping fee of $5.99. At this time, Open Farm doesn’t ship to P.O. Boxes or military addresses. Shipping usually takes 3-5 business days, and you can track your package at the Open Farm website.
Open Farm works hard to provide every household with the healthiest, tastiest, and ethically sourced pet food and treats. Should you, for any reason, feel dissatisfied they’ll happily return within 15 days of purchase. Open Farm doesn’t accept returns for purchases of more than 3 quantities of the same product.
Basing on the reviews, it looks like Open Farm delivered their promise.
Most of the pet owners told success stories of their picky dogs finally eating and getting healthy. Most dogs can’t wait to get their food when they catch a whiff.
With so many varieties to choose from, it’s easy to go cycle food for picky eaters. The Open Farm freeze dried food gives the owners the relief to finally see their pets eat. And not just eat, but excited and looking forward to their next meal. When before their dogs would leave food behind, their bowls come back all empty and clean.
Dogs need a variety of diets every now and then to keep them healthy, happy, and energetic. Open Farm freeze dried food gave these owners choices that helped them make their pets look forward to eating.
As to the date of writing this review, we haven’t found any pet food company that is as transparent as Open Farm. It really makes a difference when the owner of a brand is an advocate of pet welfare and cares for the environment.
If you can’t make your own freeze-dried food for your dogs, then we highly recommend Open Farm. The products are expensive, but the results you’ll get are well worth the investment.
